Talented Bands and Solo Artists

Create music! Then show it off to the WORLD

According to a post added to the title page of the funender website added by the owner:

"I am sad to say that on May 19, 2008, I woke up at 10 AM after only four hours of sleep and noticed that the funender.com site was offline. I quickly contacted the datacenter to inform them of the problem. The techs said that they could not reboot the server and had to place the server in rescue mode so that I can retrieve the site's data. The data was no where to be found but that was not a problem since I kept a daily backup of everything. To my disbelief the backup was also unable to be retrieved. So after working on funender.com every single day without a break for the past 5+ years, it looks like all of the music and quake data is gone forever.

I feel heartbroken and angry but realize that I have to find a way to continue on. Since funender.com music and quake was such a large site I didn't keep a backup of the site on my local computer since it was 120GB in size. I did manage to have a few older backups of my other sites which are only 10MB that I was able to restore so those were able to be saved. If you have a funender.com music subscription please login to your PayPal account and cancel your subscription. It was a great run and I am happy to have met so many great people over the years. It was great to see how much funender has grown since it had over 5000 unique users per day. I will be forced to look for another line of work but hopefully things will turn out ok. Good luck with your careers and have fun.

So what is your opinion?

I myself moved from funender a while back as the forums were getting rather biased and loads of people were getting band for silly things such as promoting their music in ways that others didn't like..

But on a lighter note, don't forget the Atom Sounds Music Forums are always open to everyone ;)

I'm quite gutted that it's gone, it was my home for four years and I'd met many cool peeps there. Yeah, the forums had come to a stand still toward the end and I'm not sure why that was. All good things come to and end I suppose.
