What has happened to MySpace ? Would be interested in your opinion

MySpace used to be the site to be on, when we went to the USA a couple of years ago you could even buy MySpace T Shirts that's how popular it was, everyone was on it, and if we posted details about a new song we would be answering messages until 4 in the morning for the next week.

I recently sent out an event invitation to over 36,000 people on MySpace and guess what no reply, amazing really when you think of what it used to be like, I have also seen messages from people announcing that they are closing their MySpace and migrating to Facebook ( I wonder where we will all go next).

We have not really suffered due to this demise as we are on lots of other sites, and on all of those sites we are getting more friend requests and comments than we have ever had before so I am pleased we did not put all of our eggs in one basket.

I think one of the main problems with MySpace apart from going out of fashion is that it has all become so automated for a lot of people ie automated friend requests,comments and messages, it just does not feel personal anymore. Someone sends an automated friend request and you respond with an automated acceptance and comment and never the twain shall meet. Not to mention all of the automated plays that are generated by many means, its hilarious when you see someone who has like 100 friends has just got 33,000 plays in one day - yeah right! how is anyone going to take that seriously.

So what next?
We are on Facebook and doing very nicely on there also the Ning network has proved to be really good with lots of new friend requests and comments coming in thick and fast and last but not least there is ReverbNation which has always been good for us and has a chart that is a bit more believable, although sometimes I wonder.

It would be interesting to hear what you all think about this, although I dont know why I am posting it on MySpace first as I probably will not get one reply lol.
